Superdelegates for 5/23

+3 for Obama and -1 for Clinton.

Plus, Obama picked up two more pledged delegates from Edward's batch.

that leaves Obama 5 delegates closer to the nomination and Clinton   further away then she was yesterday.

tick. tock. tick. tock...

Good thing the drip, like the clap, is just a pill away from being cleared up!!!  But seriously if you got it three times in a row you need to set higher standards for yourself.

Why not faster? (none / 0)

I don't mean this as a dig.

But why are so many of the Superdelegates holding back?

They now have the political cover of ratifying the pledged delegate vote. It strikes me as very odd that so many are holding back... including the party leaders.

Seriously, what are they waiting for?

Re: Why not faster? (none / 0)

Obama and the Supers are smartly holding back so the the Clinton Campaign can't scream - "the Supers decided it and took the election away from the people!!!  LET THEM VOTE!!!!" - for a whole week until she concedes.

Re: Why not faster? (2.00 / 1)

Probably a couple of reasons.  For one, Clinton will still be in politics and they will continue to work with her, so they may not want to come out against her until Obama is pushed over the line by others - everyone wants someone else to make the first move.  Secondly, they may not want any repurcussions from local voters - again, they want others to make the first move so that their decisions have no consequence.  Third, they don't want to be blamed for ending things early.  Fourth, some of them may not want to be in this position in the first place.  I think that about covers it.

Basically, it's in their self-interest to have as little to do with the process as possible until other people push Obama over the line.

Re: Why not faster? (2.00 / 1)

So that pledged delegates give him the "magic number" and not supers.   After the last primary.. then the flood.   At least that is my guess.

Personally, I wish they'd just hurry up and do it.

Re: Why not faster? (2.00 / 1)

Another thought about why they're coming out in dribs and drabs is that some want the attention when they come out.  If 20+ come out in one day, they get more overlooked individually.  If they come out 4-5 a day, each gets more individual attention and notice, something almost every politician wants.

Re: Why not faster? (none / 0)

i'm not exactly sure why so many supers are holding back but one reason is many haven't been named.

Some just don't feel the need to declare until the process is done.

For example, Hillary's biggest haul in the past month was when CA named 3 supers which all declared for Hillary.

Well, the newly minted supers are one reason why this race continually trickles in. DCW claims that this weekend 7 new add-ons will be named from GA, WY, HI and AK.

All four states were won by Obama so expect Obama to be the clear winner of the supers announced.

Re: Why not faster? (none / 0)

They don't want to make any sudden moves that look like they are closing down the Clinton campaign. They want the "victim card" to stay in the deck where it belongs.

Every time the HRC Campaign does something.... (none / 0)

stupid, the Super tap turns on again.  The lastest push for FL/MI with allusions to Zimbabwe, the Civil Rights movement and the 2000 election proves it once again.

And of course her demanding the VP slot as well.  with One defection and two undecideds declaring for Obama, we see how well her strategy is working.
